Land Of The Heroes, One Of The Brave

Andrew Mary Hicks

Southern Rock, Patriotic Song inspired by my Dad who was a Veteran. We owe ALL that we have in America to our Veterans. We played this song live at the Graveyard (in Ventura, CA)on Memorial Day. When we finished, the Color Guard, two Korean War Veterans, approached us and asked, "Who wrote that song?" I replied, "I did". They said, "That's a powerful song, Mr Hicks". I said, "I'm glad you liked it!" One of them then said, "Yeah, after hearing that song I wanted to go get my gun and go "burn some people down!"" We ALL said, "NOOOO, don't do that!" Do you think about how great America is? Without Veterans, America would NOT exist as we know it! This song is a small token of appreciation to Veterans. They fought to get our Freedom, Fought to end slavery, fought to end WWI and WWII, Fought to keep Korea FREE, Fought to keep Free Viet-Nam, Fought to keep our planet free from oppression. This song is a tribute to Veterans of "old" and present day Veterans. Have you, did you, or, do you thank Veterans for our Freedom? Sometimes WAR IS the answer, not a nice one, but a necessary one. Otherwise, WE'd STILL Be subjects of England; Slavery would still be legal; and the Nazi's and Imperial Japan would've taken over the world! Think about it! Today! Thank those who serve.

This song oozes gratitude based Patriotism. It tells a story we do not hear much of anymore. Nice delivery. I'm forever grateful to Veterans.

Good rendition of Santana's Black Magic Woman at the end. Good job on the song. The land of the FREE, because of the BRAVE!
